Usually, I do online shopping here but today I only needed a few things. I got them and waited my turn in one of the express lines. When it was my turn to check out, the little girl behind the counter was rude. She did not give me my total, ask me if I needed a bag and shoved my change in my hand. You don't belong in retail if you don't like dealing with people. Nobody should have to be treated poorly by a pouty brat that obviously missed nap time that day I already made a complaint to the store online because nobody answered the phone at customer service.. This was the only negative experience I had. The four stars are for all the positive things about the store.

My favorite store in the neighborhood (and yes, I've been to Hannaford!). They have things around holidays that sell out in Walmart because few people are looking for sparklers at ShopRite - and find them! They have pretty much everything you need: local apples and freshly baked breads, baklava, some cool cheese selection, party goods and stationery, even bed sheets, you can order fresh clams in advance at seafood, chicken choices are way better than at Market32 that has like two, regular and organic; they have a nice international foods section along with some specialties, like farm milk and Kefir in dairy. When the pandemic hit, this was the store that constantly restocked their rubbing alcohol and sanitizer shelves. Something that could be improved is checkout lanes. On regular days no more than two are open at the same time, on holidays four open were the max I've seen. Maybe it's the pandemic staffing shortages. Also, it's dangerously close to HomeGoods!

Shop Rite opened its newest store this week at the long empty Van Rensselaer Square property near the intersection of Routes 4 & 43 in Defreestville. Now there are two supermarkets once again in North Greenbush, with Hannaford (Wynantskill) being the only supermarket in town for close to 20 years (after A&P closed). However, this ShopRite store is not open 24 hours like Price Chopper and Market 32. This 55,000 sf grocery supermarket is bright and clean and a bit smaller than the other area ShopRite. This location offers the standard stock of groceries, beverages, fresh produce, dairy, frozen foods, bakery, butcher, meat section, seafood, and general merchandise. This store also has a sushi bar, Asian hot foods bar, soup bar, and heat and serve meals and food. The sale prices here are competitive with Price Chopper with some pretty good discount sales offers. The everyday grocery prices here seem higher than what I'm used seeing at my local Market Basket in New England. ShopRite sent new pre-registered Price Plus Club Card mailings to each residence in North Greenbush including my home. I used the new card to do some late night shopping. I picked up several boxes of ShopRite dry pasta which was on sale with Card for $0.69/lb, chicken egg rolls, and a salmon dinner (grab & go). Also, four 12 pack cans of Diet Coke were only $9.98 plus tax & deposit and Fresh Live Wild Caught Lobsters were $5.97 per pound with Price Plus Club Card. Like the other Shop Rites, this store offers "Shop Rite from Home" delivery services and pickup services from the covered drive-up vehicle pickup area in front left end of the store (load and go). Being from North Greenbush, I am hopeful with the long overdue ShopRite as the first anchor tenant at Van Rensselaer Square, other big box stores and chain eateries may decide to locate here now. Besides the existing CapCom Credit Union on site, I could also see a Red Robin, Chipotle, Blaze Pizza, Longhorn Steakhouse, Five Below, Barnes & Noble, Michael's, Marshall's/HomeGoods, Kohl's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy, and/or a Bass Pro Shops here too. A Chili's is now open here.
